Project 615 is all about loving others because God first loved us. This is the story of our friend and former employee, David.
About 10 months ago at the age of 18, David made some pretty bad life decisions which led him to a life on the streets of Nashville with no where to go. He was a new father and life was slowly slipping away due to his past mistakes. He made his way to the Nashville Rescue Mission. David says, "The mission was humbling. I used to look down on the homeless. Experiencing homelessness myself showed me the homeless are just like everyone else, life has just hit them a little harder." During his time there, David heard about Project 615's partner ministry, Set Free. Set Free is a place in Nashville that helps men who are recovering from addiction & homelessness and takes them in, introduces them to a new life with God and helps give them skills to better themselves in society. David remembers how he felt when he first arrived. "No one knew me, but the fellowship and open-armed acceptance was already there." David knew he wanted a change in his life and slowly began that process. In May of this year, David was baptized and accepted Jesus into his heart. A few months later, he joined our team at Project 615.
Part of Project 615's mission is to partner with Set Free and extend job opportunities to men at Set Free to work at our Project 615 print shop. So we interviewed David and extended a job opportunity to him. Our main goal is to give people a second chance. In just a matter of months, David went from homeless and alone to housed, employed, and surrounded with love.
Recently, David has seen life in a different perspective. He's owning up to being a father, rekindling relationships with his family and wanting to be a Godly man. We are pleased to say that David will be leaving Set Free & Project 615 soon as he just signed on to be apart of the U.S. Army! We are so pleased with David and his story of trusting in God and surrendering his life to Him. David's story is a story of when life knocks you down, trust in God with all your heart.
David says, "Set Free was a place that took me in when nobody else wanted to and showed me God's love. Before coming to Set Free, the way I was living was ridiculous. I lost a lot of family and friends. I even contemplated suicide for a while. But God works in mysterious ways. Set Free is family. I was grateful for Project 615 for the job opportunity. Both helped change my life around. It's only by the grace of God I went from where I was to where I am now. And I'm blessed".
